Khasiat petai

Since I like petai, even tho I don't really know what are the benefits except that it is good for diabetic person, so I made myself googled some info about this plant.

Strok. Berdasarkan penelitian yang diperolehi daripada The New England Journal of Medicine mendapati amalan memakan petai setiap hari berupaya menurunkan risiko kematian akibat strok sebanyak 40 peratus.
Merokok. Petai dikatakan berupaya membantu individu yang ingin berhenti merokok. Vitamin B6, B12, kalium dan magnesium yang terdapat di dalam petai dikatakan berupaya membantu tubuh sembuh cepat daripada ketagihan nikotin.
  1. Anemia. Dengan kandungan zat besi yang tinggi, petai berupaya menstimulasi pembentukan sel darah merah sekali gus mengurangkan derita pesakit anemia.
  2. Sembelit.Petai memiliki kandungan sera yang tinggi. la membantu memudahkan proses pencernaan sekali gus mengelakkan masalah sembelit.
  3. Kegemukan.Hasil kajian yang dilakukan oleh Institut Psikologi Austria, mendapati tekanan yang dialami akibat kerja menyebabkan ramai yang memilih coklat untuk mengurangkan tekanan. Begitu pun, makanan tersebut sebenarnya membuatkan anda berhadapan dengan masalah kegemukan. Amalan memakanan petai berupaya mengatasi
    masalah kegemukan.
  4. Depresi. Petai dipercayai dapat mengurangkan depresi. Ini kerana ia mengandungi Trytophan yang berupaya merubah mood seseorang menjadi lebih relaks dan tidak tertekan.

Siakap Stim Limau


Erm nasib baik jadi, sebab terlupa nak beli kicap cair.

1 ekor ikan siakap - sederhana besar, buang sisik, kelarkan
2 sudu besar Maggi Cukup Rasa

Perap ikan dengan Cukup Rasa. Sementara tu, panaskan pengukus. Aku guna pengukus kuih je.

Hirisan halia tua (ikut suka banyak mana)
2 sudu besar jus limau nipis (kalau suka masam, boleh tambah lagi)
5 biji cili padi - diketuk

Ratakan hirisan halia, jus limau pada ikan. Letakkan sekali halia dalam perut ikan. Tabur cili padi.

3 ulas bawang putih
3 ulas bawang merah
sedikit minyak

Panaskan minyak dan goreng bawang hingga agak garing. Tuangkan bawang dan sedikit minyak tadi ke atas ikan. Kukus ikan hingga masak. Hiaskan dengan daun bawang dipotong kasar.

Haqimie at first tak layan ikan stim ni, agaknya rupa paras tak berapa menarik. Dia layan makan ayam masak kurma. Nasib baik mama dia tak ratah sampai abis, elok tinggal setengah (sebelah lagi), dia kata nak ikan. Ha, sekali dia yang ratah sampai habis.

Today's lunch

Undecided as I always be, of what to cook for lunch? For breakfast (late actually), or should we call it brunch, coz the kiddos had only woke up few mins before 11 a.m. (yes, they slept very late nowadays, watching too much cartoon, I have to start some sleeping regime some day). Err, what I wanna say just now..oh yeah,  just gave them one cup of Calciyum strawberry-flavoured each. Why? Bcoz I don't wanna them to be full until lunch otherwise my effort in cooking lunch will be such a tiring process.

So, here's our lunch for today.


Stir-fried Vegetables

Half of broccoli - cut into florets
Half of carrot - cut into bite-size chunks
Prawns - shelled and throw the black threads
2 squids - cut into rings
1/2 yellow onion - sliced thinly
2 garlics - chopped
1 packet Sos Kreatif Maggi (sumthing like that la)
Some water
Some oil

Heat oil and saute the sliced onion and garlic till fragrant. Put in prawns and squid, stir a while, then pour in the prepared sauce. Stir well then add up carrots and broccoli's hard parts. Stir till soft, then add up broccoli's florets and some water. Cook till quite thick and dry.

Chicken Soup with Oyster Mushrooms

4 chicken thigh parts
3 garlics - crushed
1/2 red onion - quartered
1 thumb-sized old ginger - crushed
1 packet soup condiments (sup bunjut, cloves, star anise, etc)
Oyster mushrooms as preferred
Enough water
2 1/2 tbsp Maggi Cukup Rasa

Boil all ingredients till chicken cooks.

3 shallots - sliced thinly
1 garlic - sliced thinly
Oil

Fry the shallots and garlic till crisp then pour in the soup with a little oil.

As usual, don't forget to put some sliced coriander leaves and spring onions.

If preferred, can put some bird's eye chillies (crushed) and 1 tbsp lime juice.

And the soup tasted really nice when eaten with sambal tempoyak and petai.

Kueytiow Goreng


Well, En Koji was not around until Monday - outstation. And that left me with the kiddos. So, this is practically our last nite's dinner. We already had a hearty lunch, typical lunch (kurma ayam, stim siakap, ulam petai and sambal tempoyak), so as a head chef, I decided to cook something less time-consumed food for dinner. Ting! Just remembered that I bought some kueytiow the other day and since Haqimie lurvesssssssss kueytiow so much, then Mama will cook according to his tastebud. Unfor, it will not be as spicy as I wanted to, but nevermind tho, I'm not really a kueytiow fan myself. And to combine with his little bro's favourite, I added up some prawns in it.

1/2 packet thin kueytiow - rinsed with running water to wash off some excess oil
2 garlic - minced
1/2 large yellow onion - minced
1 tablespoon prepared chilli paste (not spicy, remember?)
1 tablespoon chilli sauce
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
2 tablespoons tomato sauce (again, to avoid spiciness that might overcome)
3 tablespoon sweet soy sauce (I used Cap Kipas Udang)
5 sprigs kucai bunga - cut into lengthwise
1 egg
prawns as u wished (shelled and slid in the middle to throw away those black threads)
oil

Heat a little oil, saute the minced garlic and onion till fragrant. Add up the chilli paste and saute for a while. Then put in all the sauce and stir well.
Add in prawns, stir then add kucai. Then add kueytiow, stir. Break the egg and let it harden a bit, then stir into the kueytiow.

I served with some fried Ayamas Nuggets range (Power I think).

AYAM MASAK KURMA


4 ketul ayam bahagian tulang - dibersihkan
1 biji kentang - dikupas, potong enam
1/2 batang carrot - dipotong kecil
1 tangkai daun kari
1 paket rempah kurma
1 sudu kecil kerisik
1 batang kecil kulit kayu manis
3 kuntum bunga cengkih
1 kuntum bunga lawang
2 biji buah pelaga
3 ulas bawang merah - dihiris
2 ulas bawang putih - dihiris
1 keping halia - dihiris
1/2 kotak santan rendah lemak (dalam kotak)
1 batang serai - diketuk (jika suka)
1 sudu besar air asam jawa
garam dan ajinomoto secukup rasa

Bancuh serbuk kurma dengan sedikit air, kerisik dan daun kari. Ketepikan.
Panaskan minyak, tumis bawang merah, bawang putih, halia, kulit kayu manis, bunga cengkih, bunga lawang dan buah pelaga hingga wangi. Masukkan pes kurma dan kacau rata hingga pecah minyak.
Masukkan ayam dan kentang. Gaul rata, tuangkan sedikit air. Tutup periuk dan didihkan (tutup periuk untuk empukkan kentang).
Setelah mendidih, masukkan santan dan carrot. Tutup periuk sekali lagi.
Tambahkan garam dan ajinomoto. Akhir sekali masukkan air asam jawa.

Vicchuda lagi

At least once a week mesti nak makan kat Vicchuda. Muka pun dah nak jadi muka tom yam. Ni Encik Koji la ni, tak jemu-jemu. Sampai aku dah tak tau nak order apa, last sekali order ayam goreng kunyit dengan kacang panjang sudah.

Haqimie tengah menelaah menu.
Qayyum konon-kononnya baca mag Upin dan Ipin. Macam la paham kan.
Sampai Haqimie bengang la Qayyum tak nak bagi mag tu pada dia.


Tengok tu Haqime dah menung sebab bengang.

TELUR DADAR KICAP


The boys favourite.

2 biji telur
1 labu bawang besar - dihiris
5 biji cili padi - dihiris
1 biji cili merah - dihiris
Kicap masis secukupnya
1/4 sudu kecil lada sulah
1 tangkai daun sup - dihiris nipis (jika suka)

Pukul kesemua bahan dan dadarkan hingga masak.

Sambal Tumis Ikan Bilis Hancur


Well, this is one of my favourite dish to eat with hot white rice when there were times I don't have any idea of what to cook or so lazy to cook fancy dishes. My mom used to cook this dish when we were still living with our parents, e.g. schooling time, before get married time.

The dish is so simple yet you can eat it with white rice with no additional dishes. But, unfortunately, En Koji didn't like it much. So, jarang-jarang sangat la buat this dish unless tetiba teringat.

Segenggam ikan bilis
2 batang serai
Belacan secukupnya
10 biji (atau lebih) cili padi
1 biji cili merah
3 ulas bawang putih
2 ulas bawang merah

Semua bahan-bahan ni dikisar kasar.

1 sudu besar sos tiram
1 keping asam keping
Minyak untuk menumis

Panaskan minyak, tumiskan bahan kisar. Masukkan sos tiram dan asam keping. Setelah mendidih, masukkan sedikit garam secukup rasa. Tumis hingga garing (ikut suka).

Note: Lebihan ikan bilis ni boleh dibuat rencah nasi goreng.

Nasi Goreng Kampung


2 cawan nasi (sebaiknya dimasak semalamnya)
1 paket Perencah Nasi Goreng Kampung Maggi
Segenggam ikan bilis - digoreng garing, ketepikan
1 labu bawang besar - dihiris
2 ulas bawang putih - dicincang
5 tangkai kangkung - asingkan batang dan daun, cuci bersih
1 biji telur
Minyak untuk menumis

Panaskan minyak dan tumis bawang besar dan bawang putih hingga wangi.
Masukkan perencah nasi dan goreng sedikit garing, masukkan sedikit air jika perlu.
Masukkan batang kangkung, setelah lembut, masukkan nasi dan daun kangkung. Kacau rata.
Masukkan telur dan kacau menjadi butiran kasar.
Akhir sekali, masukkan ikan bilis goreng. Gaul rata dan hidangkan.
